DTN COMMENTS: Still just a few bids on the table at midday, it is very 
likely that Mandatory will report some cleanup trade a little later when 
afternoon reports are released. The last three days have seen light to 
moderate business, with Southern live deals marked at mostly $182, fully 
steady with last week's weighted averages. While Northern dressed sales 
were mostly $294, generally $2 higher than the prior week's weighted 
averages. 

Today's slaughter totaled 113,000 head, even with last week, but 7,000 
head greater than a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 12,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 613,000 head, 7,000 less than the prior week, 
and 14,000 below 2023. Cattle futures closed moderately lower on live 
contracts, up 60 to 90. Feeder issues ended the day sharply higher up 185 
to 287. Beef cutouts are expected to close mixed with light to moderate 
box movement.
